How did you choose the nun's life and why in Anafora?<\/p>\n

I had long felt that I wanted to contribute and help with something so I turned to my parish priest, we belong to Bishop Tomas' diocese. When I told him that I wanted to help, he replied by saying that if I really wanted to help, I would be outside a church on a special day. The day came and I went to the church where I found six other girls who, like me, wanted to help and we were sent here to Anafora. I was here for a whole week, which was dedicated to prayers, meditation and work. Then I went home but after only five days the longing to return to Anafora was too great and I went back here and have been here ever since, which was six years ago. I have never been home since then, my family has instead had to come here to meet. \t
<\/strong><\/p>\n

During my first three years here I worked as an ordinary volunteer, then I became a \u201cnovice\u201d (the first step in nun ordination). I want to live as a nun because I want to live a deeper and more spiritual life dedicated to God. I chose Anafora because I like the peacefulness here and also because Bishop Tomas has been a good spiritual guide, at the same time he feels like a father who takes good care of you. The reason I also chose Anafora and not a monastery is because I want to be out among people and help, serve, in the middle of the open air, so Anafora was the perfect place. I have been to two other places but neither of those places appealed to me as strongly as Anafora. <\/p>\n

What does Anaphora mean to you?<\/b><\/br> I associate Anafora with my life, a part of myself that I enjoy very much. More importantly, Anafora is a beautiful refuge for people who need to get away from various problems in their lives and Anafora has shown to help them find their spirituality. It is a peaceful place where everyone is allowed to be themselves, process things at their own pace without anything being demanded of them, which is very beautiful. So for me, Anafora is a home for everyone, but not just any home but a loving home that welcomes everyone with open arms and protects and comforts those who need it. <\/p>\n

How are you enriched by this lifestyle?<\/b><\/br> This lifestyle gives me freedom in the sense that I have freedom from all the stress that occupies one's time in ordinary life and in this way I get a lot of space to be spiritual and pray. Prayer enriches my life as it fills me with joy, hope and love. <\/p>\n

Is there anything special you have learned here at Anafora?<\/b><\/br> It's a difficult question; I don't know what I can point to and say, this is what I have learned. Every day brings its own little lessons and lessons. I always learn something, from doing new things to taking part in other people's life experiences. But if I had to point to something, I would say that I have learned icon painting, mosaic making and gardening. <\/p>\n

What are your duties and responsibilities here at Anafora?<\/b><\/br> I help with the chores in the kitchen and other work in the different houses. At the moment I lead a group of girls and together we take care of the harvest in the plantation. In addition to taking care of the harvest, we have a spiritual program we go through where we pray and meditate together. The girls have come here in the same way as me, they wanted to serve in some way and have been sent here. Depending on the season and what jobs are available, we divide the current tasks between us and carry them out. <\/p>\n

Is there anything you would like to say or add?<\/b><\/br> I just wish that all people who can come here would do so and experience the beauty that I experience here and see everything with their own eyes.<\/p>\n
