In the same region there were shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And suddenly an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, \u201cDo not be afraid. For behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord\u201d (Luke 2:8-10).<\/p>\n

What is the key word in this text? What is the message?
<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 A great joy. Is it possible to be happy in a time of suffering and trials? <\/p>\n

You might be thinking, \u201cI have a lot to think about and many problems. Many doors are closed to me. Tell me, how can I be happy?\u201d <\/p>\n

Is there a door that doesn\u2019t have a key? Every locked door has a key. God has given us hope, hope that He will help us. Not a hair on your head will perish without Jesus knowing it. Think how wonderful God is, even the hairs on our heads are numbered! You are a child of God, someone precious. Rejoice in who your Father is and don\u2019t worry about trials and worries. Jesus says: And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13). When you look to Jesus, you automatically become happy, because Jesus is the good news (Gospel) and He is light (John 9:5). When you open your heart to Him, He fills your heart with peace and love. <\/p>\n

Why should I be happy? <\/p>\n

\u2013 God saved us from sin. When Jesus came, He reconciled heaven and earth. The gap between God and man that existed since Adam and Eve sinned has now disappeared. <\/p>\n

\u2013 Jesus took your poverty when He came to earth, so that you could become rich. <\/p>\n

\u2013 He took your infirmities. All the suffering that Jesus bore on the cross was your sins and afflictions. Jesus took your difficulties, sicknesses, and sins so that you might receive His holiness and purity. The punishment was upon Him that we might have peace, and by His stripes we are healed (Isa. 53:5). <\/p>\n

\u2013 Jesus came into the world so that you could go to heaven. <\/p>\n

\u2013 Jesus became man so that you could become a child of God. He took on a body like ours and He became one of us. Jesus said of God: \u201cMy Father.\u201d When Jesus became the Son of Man, you were given the right to be called a child of God. He invites us to call God Father and He explained the relationship that we should have with our Father. Jesus is the link between man and God, He opened the way for you. It is through Jesus that you can go to the Father \u2013 to God (John 14:6). <\/p>\n

\u2013 God sees man, through Jesus. Jesus walked among us, ate with us and walked with us. He did this to meet us and receive us. God sees man perfect through Jesus. <\/p>\n

He humbled Himself and became man. The fiery angels in heaven dare not look at His face because they are burning, but God allowed us to see and know Him. <\/p>\n

\u2013 We came to know God through Jesus, we saw God through Jesus. Philip wanted to see God and asked Jesus: \u201cLord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.\u201d Jesus answered: \u201cHave I been with you so long, and you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, \u2018Show us the Father\u2019?\u201d (John 14:8-9). <\/p>\n

\u2013 God humbled Himself to the point that He became a little child. <\/p>\n

Today is Jesus\u2019 birthday, but He wants us to ask Him for gifts. He wants to give you gifts, so why not ask Him for them? You give Him your problems and anxious thoughts, and He will give you what you need. During Christmas we usually give gifts to loved ones, but as Pope Shenouda says: \u201cNothing I give is from myself, but everything is from God. For everything I have is His. God gives me so that I can give to others. Ask for gifts from Jesus so that you can give to others.\u201d <\/p>\n

But what should I ask Jesus for? <\/p>\n

Ask Him for patience, for example, if you don't have it. You may not be understood or cannot express yourself well, then ask for the gift of speech. If you only see everyone's faults and that everyone is evil, then ask Jesus to see with His eyes. If you don't love Jesus with all your heart, then say: "Lord, let me love You. Jesus, teach me to love You more." <\/p>\n

Christmas Day is the day God took on a human body to save you. <\/p>\n
