Christmas is approaching more and more with its warmth and joy. The candles and poinsettias light up our windows and we start preparing things for Christmas. We buy Christmas presents, bake buns and "klica" and we do a big cleaning so that it is clean and nice at home. We celebrate that Jesus came to earth, became human and was born in Bethlehem, but what good is it if we don't let Him be born in our heart?
Jesus wants to be born in your heart! But will He thrive there? And are you prepared to welcome Him? These are questions we should ask ourselves in the midst of preparing for Christmas. Am I really prepared to let Jesus come into my little heart? Or do I carry things in my heart that I know do not please Jesus, such as not forgiving my neighbor or being mean and only caring about myself and not other people. God wants you to clean your heart too and prepare it for Christmas.
“Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you,” writes Paul (Ephesians 5:14). Jesus wants you to repent of your sins and turn away from them. That is when He can be joyfully born in your heart, if you will only open the door to Him! For He can choose to live anywhere in the universe and He wants to live in your heart, to be with you, to be your guide, to help you in everything and to give you perfect joy that no one else can give. When you open your heart to Him, He will become visible in and through you! Do not think that you have to have something great and powerful to offer Him. No, His presence makes your simplicity shine with His Divine light. Jesus wants to be born in your heart. Are you ready to welcome Him?
